Tobs back in win column behind Hollas' debut

(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs got back to their winning ways at home by taking down the Peninsula Pilots 10-3 on Tuesday. The Tobs' offense came alive with ten runs on twelve hits.

The Pilots, fresh off a win over the Tobs on Monday night, came across in the first. Jake Boone singled in a run in the top of the first to give Peninsula an early 1-0 lead. Nick Hollas made his Wilson debut and shined on the hill. Hollas struck out nine over five innings of work, allowing just that one run on two hits. At one point, the right hander retired twelve straight batters from the first through fifth innings.

Wilson's offense was resurrected after falling silent in a shutout loss on Monday, erupting for three runs on three hits in the first. Michael Calamari, making his Tobs debut, doubled in a run in the first for his first hit in a Wilson uniform. Deshawn Lookout tripled in Calamari later in the inning for a 3-1 Tobs lead.

Lookout picked up another RBI in the third, followed by a Hunter Gore two RBI single. The Tobs sent nine to the plate, batting around for the sixth time this year, scoring four times on four hits. Gore ended his night with a two-run blast in the eighth.

Wilson cruised to victory by a final score of 10-3. Hollas (1-0) earned the win with the loss being dealt to Doug Palmer (0-1) who was lifted after surrendering five hits and eventually five runs in two-plus innings of work. Wilson is back in the win column, and improves to 4-1 on the season.
