Tobs drop first home game of season

(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs lost their first home game of the season as the Steamers rolled their way to an 11-5 victory. The Tobs five game winning streak ended on Saturday night.

Wilson scored in the bottom of the first on a Michael Calamari RBI single. The 1-0 lead disappeared quickly courtesy of a two-run home run by Rob Weissheier. The Tobs tied it in the bottom of the inning but once again relinquished the lead in the third.

With Edenton leading 6-5 after six, the Steamers exploded in the eighth. Quincy Hamilton plated a pair with a single. Weissheier capped his night with a three-run blast. The first baseman ended his night with six RBI after entering the game without a single one on the season.

Wilson's offense never fought back the rest of the way. They eventually lost their first home game of the year with an 11-5 final. CJ Dornak (2-1) earned the win in relief while Nick Hollas (1-1) took the loss.

Wilson returns to Fleming Stadium to face the Peninsula Pilots on June 18 for a double header starting at 6:00 PM. It's Faith & Family Night at the ballpark. Bring out your Church Family for a Night at the Ballpark with special Faith Based Activities. It's brought to you by Professional Drug Screening Services and Da Bayou Restaurant.
