(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs scored five times in the bottom of the third to lift them over the Peninsula Pilots on Thursday night. It was sixth win against the Pilots this season.
The Tobs got six straight runners to reach base in the bottom of the third with two outs. Jared Carr, Shamoy Christopher, DeShawn Lookout and Christian Avant all plated runs to give Wilson a 5-0 lead. The offense got a solo run in the fifth and plated three in the bottom of the eighth keyed by a Hunter Gore two-run double. Wilson's offense tallied nine runs on ten hits in the game.
Chandler Coates was solid on the hill for six innings allowing just two runs on four hits. Peninsula's offense scored sporadically, plating lone runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth. The Pilots rallied for two in the ninth inning but couldn't tally any more. Coates (3-2) picked up his third win of the season. The Tobs handed Zach Sanders (1-1) his first loss of the year.
Wilson is on the road Friday but return home on Saturday to host the Martinsville Mustangs for the final time in the 2019 regular season. It's Whirligig and Wilson Chamber night.
